THE VERY FAR FUTURE? ➞
In a group discussion we were asked to describe “What does a healthy anti-racist community look like to you?” Central to my ideal is collective power, equality, and support for people of all identities, abilities, ages, and economic statuses. The way I see it, everyone in our personal lives and wider communities would benefit from this kind of structure yet it doesn’t appear to exist.
I have noticed that some folx become saddened or discouraged from discussing what needs to change or identifying problems that we notice in the world. Having emotions around those questions is completely understandable, but if we can’t dream or imagine what society could be like, and better serve every living being in it, how will things ever change?
I don’t mean that we should end routines that keep us and our loved ones safe and healthy, but I am trying to challenge my day-to-day life with a new perspective. How can we keep moving forward with more love rather than fear, which tends to squash change? How do we make love, honesty, true understanding, and shared prosperity a reality; even in the smallest ways; now?

Works on Paper Round Up, Friday, May 23

I am sharing a guest zine at my table, created for Migrant Roots Media (MRM) by Dx. Culton. MRM is a multilingual, multimedia platform that seeks to unearth the root causes of planetary migration through the voices of migrants, children of migrants, and those struggling to stay and thrive in their homelands.
The organization strategically positions intersectional voices to aid in advancing narratives and socio-political analyses concerning migration and other social issues.
I am also sharing a new sticker design, free for anyone who stops by! (See newsletter header image)
Friday, May 23 from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Durham Armory: 220 Foster Street
FREE admission, 60 creators selling tariff-free art!

Interview Question Prompt
In nearly every job interview I am asked some version of this question: How do you balance conflicting priorities and demands?
My Answer
I like to use task lists to assign my own deadlines and stay on track. When I learn of new requests my lists direct my efforts and allow me to plan time for stakeholder review and adaptation, or discuss which tasks should have lower priority. I also check in with team members to stay informed about any challenges that come up during projects. There have been situations when my contribution is complete, but others have additional or unexpected contributions. Building in extra time for review allows for projects to be completed ahead of deadlines when possible.
